A good game day starts with the right field. Whether you are brand new or have played for years, the terrain type, the rules and the distance from home largely shape how your day goes. This guide walks through the choices that matter, so you can pick the right field through our fields overview.
Indoor (CQB) or outdoor (woodland)?
The first choice is the terrain type, because it shapes your play style and your kit.
- Indoor / CQB takes place in halls, bunkers or mock buildings. Short ranges, fast reactions, lots of corners. Great when the weather is unreliable and friendly for beginners who like close, fast-paced play.
- Outdoor / woodland happens in forest, heathland or open terrain. Longer ranges, more tactics and patience, often larger play areas. Camouflage and a replica with a bit more reach pay off here.
Many players mix both across the seasons. Unsure about your first time? Our beginner's guide covers the minimum you need to get started.
What to check beforehand
Before you sign up, it is worth running through these points. Most fields publish them on their own site or socials.
- FPS limit. Every field sets its own limits on muzzle power, often depending on the game type (CQB usually has stricter limits than woodland). Check which limits and measuring rules (BB weight, joules) apply, and whether your replica meets them. New to the terms? Read FPS and joules explained.
- Opening times and calendar. Some fields have fixed open days, others run events or work by reservation. Plan ahead.
- Rentals. No gear of your own yet? Check whether the field rents replicas, masks and sometimes clothing. For a first visit this is usually the easiest start.
- Age and supervision. The minimum age varies per field; younger players may face extra rules or need a parent's consent. Always confirm this with the field itself.
- Price. Compare entry fees, any on-site BB and gas sales, and rental packages. A cheaper field further away can end up costing more once you add travel and rental.
When you are ready to build your own kit, use the gear price comparison so you do not overpay.
Searching by province
The fastest way to find a field nearby is to filter by province. The offering differs a lot per region.
- Airsoft fields in Gelderland and Overijssel offer plenty of wooded woodland terrain.
- In the Randstad you will find a mix of indoor and outdoor in Noord-Holland and Zuid-Holland.
- In the south, look at Noord-Brabant and Limburg.
- Centrally and in the north there are options in Utrecht, Drenthe and Friesland.

How the AirsoftHQ map helps
On our fields page the fields appear on a map, so you can see at a glance what lies near you. For each field you will find the basic info where available: location, terrain type and a link to the field itself. That lets you weigh distance and terrain type first, then check the current FPS limits, prices and opening times on the field's own site.
We are an independent comparison site: we point you to the source so you can decide based on up-to-date info. Start broad via the province overviews, shortlist a few candidates, and call or email the field if anything is unclear. That way your first or next game day is set up right.
